Every January we like to get together to dream and plan for the coming year. Whether it’s new projects or continuing what we’re doing, we’re excited to make a difference to the lives of local young people and look forward to seeing where the year takes us. Here are 5 of our top ten hopes for 2016 – the next part coming soon…
1 Returning to Romania – We believe that our previous Romania trips have been some of the most life changing experiences we’ve been involved with. In 2016 we will be returning to Romania with a group of 8 local young people, who will help us run activities for local children and bring clothes and supplies for poor villages in the Transylvania region.
2 More One to One support – In 2015 we expanded more than any other year in LYP’s history by launching our new One to One service across Mole Valley. We now offer counselling and mentoring to young people aged 12-18 across the district, and our aim this year is to deliver more One to One session than ever before. We will be teaming up with local secondary schools, the Youth Support Service and Surrey County Council to provide vital support for vulnerable young people.
3 Healthy young people and the great outdoors – We want to encourage and promote health and healthy activities. In addition to Total Football, our friday night football league, we are going to be offering more healthy activities than ever. This will include a new programme of outdoor activities in partnership with the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and a residential trip to Juniper Hall for more outdoor learning opportunities.
4 Building Business relationships – In recent years we have enjoyed great relationships with local business, who have supported us with funding, volunteers and other resources. We hope to connect with more local businesses in 2016 to partner together to create change for the local community.
5 Helping young people become employable – In 2016 we are re-launching our Aspire project to ensure that it can deliver even more impact. Aspire is about helping young people find work by strengthening their CVs, boosting confidence, helping them achieve qualifications and much more. We want to help 40 local young people aged 16-20 find work or further education this year
Thanks for reading Part 1 of our Hopes for 2016, we’ll be back with Part 2 in a few days.
Your donation will go straight into helping us run projects for local young people.
An example of how your donation will help...
£20 covers a 5-A-Day healthy eating session at BFree.
£50 covers our football equipment for a term of Total Football.
£100 pays for 6 one-to-one sessions between a youth worker and young person.
We are always looking for volunteers who can help us with the work we do.
Suitable volunteers will need to be able to relate young people and build positive relationships with them. Please contact us for a role description and to talk more about this if you are interested in volunteering.Get in touch
We always welcome help with fundraising.
